Ongoing Ministries
Bible Studies
The opening lines and chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil—all through the power of His Word. Over 10 sessions of verse-by-verse study of God of Creation, by Jen Wilkin, dive into the first 11 chapters of Genesis by following three critical stages of understanding: comprehension, interpretation, and application. Teaching videos are key in understanding this study. Revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge your basic knowledge, and discover deeper meanings in the text. As God reveals Himself through Scripture, we can only begin to understand ourselves when we first glimpse the character, attributes, and promises of our Creator. Rejuvenate your faith through the stories of the faithful. Throughout Scripture we find countless stories of God’s faithfulness—we also find countless stories of the people who remained faithful to Him. To strengthen and deepen your own faith, enter the stories of God’s imperfect yet faithful people inA Great Cloud of Witnesses, a six-week Bible study by Trillia Newbell. This study dives into Hebrews 11, examining the lives of Rahab, Enoch, Gideon, Sarah, and many more whose faiths withstood the tests of their days. Each devotional invites you into the lives of ordinary people who lived by faith and concludes with reflection questions so that you can consider how your story connects with those found in Scripture. By studying the great cloud of witnesses found in Hebrews 11, and others who have gone before us, you will learn to imitate their faith while clinging to the One who is always faithful as you run the race God has set before you. Prayer Triads
A Prayer Triad is a small, three-person prayer and accountability group that meets regularly to encourage and support one another in prayer. The Prayer Triad is designed to provide ongoing close relationships in which we support one another through prayer. Though this happens to some degree in Bible studies and home groups, it is still possible to come and go without anyone knowing what is going on in your life. Also, because these groups are kept open and regularly change members, it is hard to have the level of trust needed to share specific struggles or challenging circumstances. We have found that a deeper ongoing relationship with two or three other peers is vital for a healthy walk with Christ. Trust takes time to develop, and the group should expect to grow in honesty and depth as relationships develop. If you want to join a Prayer Triad, please sign up HERE. The Women's Ministry team will contact you with more information on your group and offer encouragement for your time together.
Big Sis Lil' Sis
Purpose - "But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled." Titus 2:1-5 (ESV) The 'Big Sis, Lil Sis' ministry aims to follow the Titus 2 mentoring model between older and younger women. The purpose is to develop deeper spiritual bonds with Christ and with each other as sisters in Christ. These relationships should be the fertile soil on which gospel-driven friendships may grow in our love for each other, our families, and our service to our Lord. A Lil Sis is a woman who desires more accountability in their life through the guidance of a woman wiser in spiritual maturity (a Big Sis). A Big Sis is a woman willing to share, guide, and pray for a younger woman in life stage and/or faith. Vision - We believe every woman at West Hills can help guide and care for a sister who may be younger in faith and/or life stage and desires more spiritual accountability and guidance. We hope and pray that all women at West Hills are covered in guidance, support, love, and spiritual encouragement (John 13:34-35). We pray these godly friendships are a blessing.
Do you feel led by the Lord to be a Big Sister, to love and encourage a younger sister? Do you desire a mentor-like Big Sister figure for spiritual accountability and growth? We encourage you to pray about this and consider joining the "Big Sis, Lil' Sis" Ministry. If so, please register HERE. Connection forms are also available in the lobby to complete and return. We pray for the Lord's guidance, wisdom, and discernment in deciding these Big Sis and Lil' Sis friendships. If you have any questions, please contact Lucille Alley ([email protected]) or Adela Waldie ([email protected]).
